Apple's AI doctor and revamped Health app could revolutionize personal wellness by 2026

Apple is reportedly working on an AI-powered doctor that’ll help users stay fit and healthy, and a revamped version of its Health app.

The project, codenamed Project Mulberry, could arrive as soon as iOS 19.4 in the spring or summer of 2026, according to the latest from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The new version of the Health app, informally dubbed Health+, would pull data from Apple devices – like heart rate monitoring from the Apple Watch – and offer personalised healthcare recommendations.

For instance, it might recommend dietary changes to users showing signs of high blood pressure.

Apple is working with physicians in house and plans to hire more specialists to create instructional video content. The report suggests a celebrity doctor could even be the face of the app.

Food tracking could also be a part of the new app, putting Apple in competition with MyFitnessPal, Noom and other such apps. The app could also act as a personal trainer, with the iPhone camera used to analyse your technique when exercising.

The idea of AI offering medical advice has been mooted for years, with figures like Microsoft’s Bill Gates predicting the technology would soon be a go-to for healthcare recommendations.

Apple has been hinting at its healthcare ambitions for years now. CEO Tim Cook said back in 2019 that health and wellness could be the company’s “greatest contribution to mankind.”

The project is being led by Dr. Sumbul Desai, who heads up Apple’s health team, while Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams is also heavily involved.
